Jeremiah’s Hope

Titanic 2

Jeremiah was to speak to the nations, not just Israel.  It is time for the nations to start listening to Jeremiah.  If we are going to consider his words, we need to consider the context of his life too.  I cannot take a message that has no scriptures, and they must be understood for the context of their story and times.  But the Word of God is a name given to Jesus, so these are more than just dead history.  The prophets pointed to the future, which is also today and days yet to come.  We need this map.

I cannot climb a ladder with a broken rung or a slippery stair safely.  Similarly I cannot climb a sermon with incomplete or confused references to scriptures.  I need the whole understanding of the matter.  So now I investigate a scripture that needs more understanding.

When I read Jeremiah 12, I hear Jeremiah complaining about the ungodly corruption around him in Israel and Judah.  He only got four verses into his complaint before his words change.  At times we may answer our own questions, but here I believe that the Lord has taken over his conversation.  In verse 5 we hear God answering Jeremiah’s question.

If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses? and if in the land of peace, wherein thou trustedst, they wearied thee, then how wilt thou do in the swelling of Jordan?  Jeremiah 12:5

So he observes that Jeremiah has not been victorious over the minor annoyances of his times in Israel.  So God asks how he can expect to overcome the cavalry that is coming after these mere infantry attacks.  If he is troubled in the peaceful land of Israel that he has trusted, how will he continue against a flood of troubles that is coming?

God goes on to explain that he is not happy with his people, Jeremiah’s brethren have betrayed him and God alike.

For even thy brethren, and the house of thy father, even they have dealt treacherously with thee; yea, they have called a multitude after thee: believe them not, though they speak fair words unto thee.  I have forsaken mine house, I have left mine heritage; I have given the dearly beloved of my soul into the hand of her enemies.  Mine heritage is unto me as a lion in the forest; it crieth out against me: therefore have I hated it. Jeremiah 12:6-8

Their words are sweet, but there is blood on their feet, even as our leaders today.  The church and political leaders have corrupted Israel as our leaders are doing today.  This is not encouragement to expect a victory, but rather a warning of punishment to come.  It gets worse.

Mine heritage is unto me as a speckled bird, the birds round about are against her; come ye, assemble all the beasts of the field, come to devour.  Many pastors have destroyed my vineyard, they have trodden my portion under foot, they have made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness.  They have made it desolate, and being desolate it mourneth unto me; the whole land is made desolate, because no man layeth it to heart.  The spoilers are come upon all high places through the wilderness: for the sword of the Lord shall devour from the one end of the land even to the other end of the land: no flesh shall have peace.   They have sown wheat, but shall reap thorns: they have put themselves to pain, but shall not profit: and they shall be ashamed of your revenues because of the fierce anger of the Lord. Jeremiah 12:9-13

We know that the land was divided as Judah and Israel, and both kingdoms were headed for judgment.  Jeremiah was their warning to avert this.  But God already knew what their decision would be.  Jeremiah would remove any claim they might make for an excuse.  From this verse on the Lord has clearly taken over the conversation.  Jeremiah proclaims that this is the word of God:

Thus saith the Lord against all mine evil neighbours, that touch the inheritance which I have caused my people Israel to inherit; Behold, I will pluck them out of their land, and pluck out the house of Judah from among them.  And it shall come to pass, after that I have plucked them out I will return, and have compassion on them, and will bring them again, every man to his heritage, and every man to his land.  And it shall come to pass, if they will diligently learn the ways of my people, to swear by my name, The Lord liveth; as they taught my people to swear by Baal; then shall they be built in the midst of my people.  But if they will not obey, I will utterly pluck up and destroy that nation, saith the Lord. Jeremiah 12:14-17

No, Israel will NOT be able to face the judgment that God will bring from Babylon.  Jeremiah will have to steel himself against the horrors of a far more ungodly onslaught that is coming.  To prepare for that cavalry is to accept either subjugation to God or a horrible defeat.  We do not have to be prophets to read the prophets.  The future is already in place and declared by these who he called to warn us.

Is America exempt from the judgment that Israel experienced?  Certainly God protected Jeremiah and the godly men, but he was to endure time in the sewer under the prison.  A rebellious puppet king would lose his children and his eyesight in Babylon.  Do we have any promise about our future?  There is a mysterious story about a nation of wealth that is branded as being a Babylon that burns in Revelation 18.  Is that not a prophesy of the future to come?  And who IS that nation most comparable to in our time?

The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing,  And saying, Alas, alas that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls!  For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,  And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city!  Revelation 18:15-18

What city or nation is like this great city indeed?  A nation that will not receive Christian refugees from battlefields in “shithole” nations?  A nation that will not care for their own poor?  A nation that cannot discern wolves in sheep’s clothing?  A nation that honors giant occultist congregations who follow the wealthy and powerful oppressors of the poor?

Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?  But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?  Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?  If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:  But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.  For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.  James 2: 5-10

When I was a baby Christian, I witnessed two televangelists accusing each other of sin on television.  They both were standing with their lawyers.  I knew that scripture condemns taking a brother to a secular court, so I knew immediately that both were wrong.  Jimmy and Jimmy were both of the Assembly of God denomination, so why didn’t their elders mediate?  Perhaps the house of God is in rebellion against God too?  that sounds a lot like the Israel and Judah of Jeremiah.  I was horrified to hear my churches singing a song based on the prophesies of Joel.

Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the Lord cometh, for it is nigh at hand;  Joel 2:1

Don’t they know that is the warning of the coming judgment where God would send Babylon to defeat Israel?  The army coming is NOT the Army of Israel or America, it is the army of God’s destruction and judgment.  To prepare for that cavalry would require a totally different kind of warfare.  America today is preparing for that military threat.  I know because my company will be bidding on some new urgency that the Defense Department is about to announce.  But that is not the weapons training that we need today.  that will not bring victory as it has in the past.  Our weapons cannot change the prophesy of God.  We need spiritual weapons training now.  Jeremiah and Daniel survived by the same power that made Joseph (a convicted sex offender) the prime minister of Egypt.  Even a baby Christian has access to scriptural training in this.

We cannot afford to be deaf to the prophets or the news of current events.  America is forming a new branch of the armed forces, a Space Force.  This is probably a violation of international treaties, but ask the native Americans how we honor treaties.  Why the sudden concern about the biggest military force in the world?  For one thing we are sending jobs and commerce to China, which makes them rich and powerful.  They are outpacing our technological development as our college tuition crushes education here.  Further, decades of intervention in foreign nations has generated a lot of enemies that were once our allies.  That is a great talent of American leadership.  Did you know that Ho Chi Minh wanted to be an ally of the U.S.?  Did you know that presidents Johnson and Nixon covered up a lie about what started the Vietnam War?  Read your recently declassified history, but believe the prophets and recognize the signs along the road.  You can know where we are going, and how close we are.

Israel will be saved by Messiah…after they are nearly defeated.  Again, I am not a prophet, but I can read the prophets.  Israel can expect a hard time and those armies are gathered all around them today, the Philistines (Palestinians), Russians, Jordan, Persians (Iran), Syria, Lebanon, and ISIS in Egypt.  Even the Chinese are expressing opinions as Korea shares missile technologies.  Where will American and all our Christian beliefs be?  Will we be putting out the fires of new Babylon?  We are already confusing the situation by alienating friends and joining with evil nations.  The story does not begin well.

Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem.  And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.  In that day, saith the Lord, I will smite every horse with astonishment, and his rider with madness: and I will open mine eyes upon the house of Judah, and will smite every horse of the people with blindness.  Zechariah 12:2-4

America wants to burden themselves with Israel, and God says that we will be cut in pieces for that.  We are not the salvation of Israel, but God alone will be.  We must take care to come out from among the false prophets and be citizens of the Kingdom of God first, and America last.  Christians may endure some discomfort as the prophets did unless God raptures us out of the worst of this.  But what is that “rapture” hope?  Could we Christians be released from prison (or other suffering?) by the enemies of America as Jeremiah was released by the Babylonians?

While Jeremiah had been confined in the courtyard of the guard, the word of the Lord came to him: “Go and tell Ebed-Melek the Cushite, ‘This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: I am about to fulfill my words against this city—words concerning disaster, not prosperity. At that time they will be fulfilled before your eyes. But I will rescue you on that day, declares the Lord; you will not be given into the hands of those you fear.  I will save you; you will not fall by the sword but will escape with your life, because you trust in me, declares the Lord.’”  Jeremiah 39: 15-18

The word came to Jeremiah from the Lord after Nebuzaradan commander of the imperial guard had released him at Ramah. He had found Jeremiah bound in chains among all the captives from Jerusalem and Judah who were being carried into exile to Babylon.  When the commander of the guard found Jeremiah, he said to him, “The Lord your God decreed this disaster for this place.  And now the Lord has brought it about; he has done just as he said he would. All this happened because you people sinned against the Lord and did not obey him.  But today I am freeing you from the chains on your wrists. Come with me to Babylon, if you like, and I will look after you; but if you do not want to, then don’t come. Look, the whole country lies before you; go wherever you please.”  However, before Jeremiah turned to go, Nebuzaradan added, “Go back to Gedaliah son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon has appointed over the towns of Judah, and live with him among the people, or go anywhere else you please.”  Then the commander gave him provisions and a present and let him go.  So Jeremiah went to Gedaliah son of Ahikam at Mizpah and stayed with him among the people who were left behind in the land. Jeremiah 40: 1-6

So the faithful prophet was saved, and the faithful of Israel are also expecting to be saved.  As they are joined to Yeshua Ha Meschia we will all be one in the Kingdom of God.  They will behold the one they pierced in victory, but also in sorrow.

In that day, saith the Lord, I will smite every horse with astonishment, and his rider with madness: and I will open mine eyes upon the house of Judah, and will smite every horse of the people with blindness.  And the governors of Judah shall say in their heart, The inhabitants of Jerusalem shall be my strength in the Lord of hosts their God.  In that day will I make the governors of Judah like an hearth of fire among the wood, and like a torch of fire in a sheaf; and they shall devour all the people round about, on the right hand and on the left: and Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place, even in Jerusalem.  The Lord also shall save the tents of Judah first, that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem do not magnify themselves against Judah.  In that day shall the Lord defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of the Lord before them.  And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.  And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.  In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem, as the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddon.  And the land shall mourn, every family apart; the family of the house of David apart, and their wives apart; the family of the house of Nathan apart, and their wives apart;  The family of the house of Levi apart, and their wives apart; the family of Shimei apart, and their wives apart;  All the families that remain, every family apart, and their wives apart.  Zecariah 12: 4-14

While this revelation of Jesus, Yeshua, is horrible in discovering their historical sin, it is covered in the prophetic grace of forgiveness.  They have been prepared with a preview of this reunion with a lost son.  Joseph was a type of the dead son reunited with his fearful brethren.

And Joseph said unto his brethren, Come near to me, I pray you. And they came near. And he said, I am Joseph your brother, whom ye sold into Egypt.  Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life.  For these two years hath the famine been in the land: and yet there are five years, in the which there shall neither be earing nor harvest.  And God sent me before you to preserve you a posterity in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance.  So now it was not you that sent me hither, but God: and he hath made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.  Haste ye, and go up to my father, and say unto him, Thus saith thy son Joseph, God hath made me lord of all Egypt: come down unto me, tarry not:  And thou shalt dwell in the land of Goshen, and thou shalt be near unto me, thou, and thy children, and thy children’s children, and thy flocks, and thy herds, and all that thou hast:  And there will I nourish thee; for yet there are five years of famine; lest thou, and thy household, and all that thou hast, come to poverty.  Genesis 45: 4-11

At this point, the nations that opposed Israel and the church will be vanquished.  But how do we endure the wait for this help?  Babylon burning cannot be a good sign for a nation that tried to be a friend to Israel.  Joseph is again a hope for those who are enduring a season of judgment.  When Daniel was taken to Babylon as a prisoner of war he had the example of Joseph as an inspiration.  Under the worst government there is always a way to serve God and prosper.  While being a prisoner both men performed their masters as if they were performing a service unto God.  They maintained a relationship with God and he became their provider.  God himself came to us and served the father right to the point of death.  Not even the evil of the Roman Empire could match the power of God to overcome death.  From these we may harvest life.

This is the weapons training of spiritual warfare; Christians are a minority and need a real power.

Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:  Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.  Matthew 7:13-14

We cannot win by mighty armies or even by popular vote.  But with God our good light may be amplified like the lens of a lighthouse.  Our deliverance will come as for Israel, by God’s own hand.  We have no strength to win by offending others, a way that has blemished the testimony of our not completely Christian nation.

Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.  Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?  Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.  A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.  Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.  Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.   Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.  Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?  And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.  Matthew 7:15-23

Now we Christians have a clear commandment to beware of the spirit of Anti-Christ.  It is our duty to be right, even as Jeremiah was compelled to speak the truth in the face of bitter opposition.  So we have been given tools by which to measure the words of men.  Do our leaders line up with all of these directions?

My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.  For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment;  And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool:  Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?  Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?  But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?   Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?  If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:  But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.  James 2: 1-9

As both political parties suck the same rich tit, our nation is condemned to sin.  Yet the new bipartisan efforts to fight against corruption draw support from both the socialists and the Tea Party!  Perhaps Christians should be leading this effort.  This money is now coming from corporations and foreign governments.  When elected officials depend on big donations they are serving the rich instead of you…on your tax dollar.  Is this not taxation without representation?  How can they serve God with a lie?

When a “church” disrupts a military funeral to scream about sin, are they engaging in the practice of “railing”?  When we insult sinners in public for being gay, trans-sexual, or supporting abortion, are we on the path that God has ordained for us?  Do we win souls to Jesus by making laws about their marriage, or employment rights?  How do we reach a soul who may be regretting a decision to abort their baby?  Do we remind them that the baby is not found in sin, and encourage the adult to avoid God’s judgment?  Do we support officials who only talk against abortion while their donors drive their real agenda?

Do my leaders follow the wisdom of the Proverbs, or do they only say they are Christians?  But then Solomon was only the stenographer of Proverbs, he ignored them too!  He at least did repent and point to God in the end.  Unfortunately Israel continued to follow his sins, and marched off to Babylon.

These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:  A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,  An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.  Proverbs 6:16-19

In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.  Proverbs 10:19

If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.  James 1:26

Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease.  Proverbs 22:10

A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.  Proverbs 15:1

A fool’s lips walk into a fight, and his mouth invites a beating.  Proverbs 18:6

It is not good to be partial to the wicked or to deprive the righteous of justice.  Proverbs 18:5

These men are deceptive, but they are only the minor annoyances of our nation and times.  If we cannot contend with these amateurs without being deceived, we are not ready for the real Anti-Christ.   These are only the infantry, and we cannot be found on the side of the backslidden when the judgment of God is promising to clean house on this earth.  We cannot place citizenship in a nation above that of the Kingdom of God.  It will be better to live in the low places of faith than the high places of compromise.  The prophets were poor, homeless, unpopular, and still able to bless a faithful widow with the provision of God.  Now we need to prepare for the real threat which may include miracle workers who seduce even many religious people.  You can entertain your nightmares in Revelation 13, but read the end of the book too.  God has a way to overcome.

For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.  Matthew 24:24

We do need to have the weapons of spiritual warfare, and training is available.  We have a three strand cord of great strength; the Holy Trinity.  For discernment we need to have a balanced relationship with the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.  Who are they?

  1. Jesus taught us to pray to “Our Father”.  We have a relationship with the father in prayer.
  2. Jesus is called “The Word” so we study the bible for a relationship with Jesus.
  3. The Holy Spirit fills believers so our fellowship is our connection to him.

If we are hearing from the wrong god we need the bible and the church.

If we do not understand the bible we need prayer and the church.

If our church is offering cool aid we may need prayer and bible study.

The prophets avoided the temple because the priests were often too close to the kings.  But they could have fellowship in the community, so they were still connected to the holy spirit.  Their prayers were answered, sometimes in the midst of their complaints, so the Father was with them.  They announced the messiah in every part of both testaments so they walked with him always.

Three Hebrew children entered a fire where they alone were the gathering of the saints, and their prayers brought the living word to them.

For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.  Matthew 18:20

You cannot be disarmed when you maintain your spiritual weaponry in regular fellowship with the Trinity.  You can discern the way.  Walk in it.

The office of the governor of Wyoming called me to ask how they could encourage our business.  They have since had meetings and conferences aimed at drawing new technology ventures.  Of course our effort to build a space launch system only needs $500 million to get moving.  There is less government interest in our conversation at that point.

Today I decided to investigate the Science fiction program called “Firefly“.  It had a short season, but it was colorful, with space cowboys.  Lots of leather, wood, and six-shooters.  That fits the story line for space ventures in Wyoming pretty well.  The story opens with a political “discussion”  of a war where the Alliance vanquished the independents.  My own political beliefs about our current political “alliance” have inspired a few comments on Facebook, but we can save that story for another day.  (Don’t go there!)

Our horizontal launch venture will build slowly with a small unmanned cargo aircraft.  But we still have space cowboy dreams out here.  At one time we had a space conference in Phoenix that drew innovators to explore the ways to explore space.  That was a key for inventors, scientists, and engineers who are not on a big payroll.  Sadly that event has passed into history, and many space conferences cost over $2,000 now.  We are even more isolated because horizontal launch is not always well received.  But we miss the forum where new ideas were always available.

Seriously, who wants to pay $2000 for a rubber chicken dinner honoring some self-inflated big space bureaucrat?  There are real innovators in big aerospace, but those are often in the black world, and they may not get out of their cages very often.  Those who do escape may spin off their own small ventures and challenge the world of entrepreneurial fund raising.  As such they get to attend few of these expensive conferences.  One such venture is Tim Bendel’s Frontier Astronautics.  He persuaded me to leave Arizona for wild and windy Wyoming, a regular “border planet” to the big aerospace world.

So governor, how do you want to draw the creative world to this vast source of real estate?  If I may suggest that real estate is a pretty good draw.  I don’t think rocket guys need a four-star hotel to have a good time.  In fact, a few dream of going to Mars.  You know, Wyoming is not too far from Mars.  Laramie is over 7,000 feet so it really is closer.  I offered some of our young partners a chance to camp in a place that offers a pretty good Mars simulation, not far from Laramie.

So it is possible that some people may not require more than a camp site, or a motel with bus transportation to an event that could draw considerable aerospace participation.  An outdoor venue may still offer a lot of value to space minded people.  You may remember how we grew during the solar eclipse.  Wyoming also has great dark sky viewing of this great universe at night.  Add a great cowboy barbecue and a warm fire and you have a great gathering.

Outdoor events could still offer shelter for displays, presentations, and demonstrations.  This is not a new idea to the Experimental Aircraft Association.  Their Airventure air show in Oshkosh provides camping and dorms at the University of Wisconsin for visitors.  As a fly-in the airport has space for those who camp in their own aircraft as well.  Corporate display areas and new innovation all draw crowds to the area.  Aviation and space have a popular draw.

We do well to remember that our scientists were often inspired by science fiction like this.  So it would not hurt to remember the inspiration of Star Trek, Star Wars, Farscape, and Babylon 5.  If you want to draw aerospace, invite the heroes of Hollywood who inspired their careers.  Now you may be drawing a crowd, but probably not like Oshkosh or Burning Man.  OK, you may not want to witness anything THAT wild, but they DO have smaller regional affiliates.  How about…

BURNING SPACE MAN 2018.  A space-cowboy gathering to contemplate the new space frontier.  Consider the virtues or vices of vertical launch versus horizontal launch.  LOX or HTP; is there a role or mission for each?  Can a lighter than air craft reach orbit?  Does the space elevator go all the way to the top?  Can you REALLY shoot a firearm on Firefly and not de-pressurize?

Seriously, our Exodus Aerospace team is located all over America, and we need a conference just to meet our own team!  We have suppliers with locations in both Colorado and Wyoming.  Perhaps some of our Wyoming and Colorado space assets will open up for facility tours.  Fire marshals in Colorado were uncomfortable with Tim Bendel’s rocket fuel.  He bought a missile silo south of Chugwater, where they said “Just don’t scare the cows”.  Then we also have the University of Wyoming.  Do we have assets to showcase for visitors?

We do welcome advocates of horizontal launch, so a fly-in format might encourage aeronautical types.  Like the EAA, we might provide bus connections between the university, motels, the airport, and some good dark-sky country.  Do you realize that we have one of only three reusable horizontal launch projects in the world today?  Perhaps we should invite aerospace engineering students from surrounding states too.  The University of Colorado is already contributing interns and graduates to our efforts.  Think of the possibilities!

Our own venture will have very small beginnings so we do not need a big production at this time.  But perhaps you may initiate this conversation with other parties who might share this interest.  We can introduce our vendors and teammates too.  Perhaps there is a land owner or State park that can handle a small pilot conference?  You bring the steaks, and I’ll bring the charcoal.  Just don’t let the rocket guys light the charcoal with liquid oxygen!

For a new corporation there are many financial challenges.  Should we work from home, seek an incubation space, or buy a facility?  So here is another option to consider.  The city of Chugwater is small and wants business.  So they have an office building for rent at $1,000 per month.

Unfortunately the Wyoming Technology Business center is full.  So the small towns win out for hunger…they WANT business!

We may be able to rent rooms for our crew or buy a house there.  A few miles south of Chugwater is our rocket partner at Frontier Astronautics.  Later we may buy land near Laramie where there are a few more stores!

The offices are adequate for a small startup.  I think we may need to have a single location and actually bring everyone into personal contact.  Hands-on working on the prototype may be important as we grow.  Team members need to know shop work as well as design.  With Frontier Astronautics nearby we can do this and watch tests.

Chugwater may be a bit of a culture shock.  We do not often see the old west on television any more, but it seems to continue on here.  We have a high school rodeo, and demolition derby is an annual event.  We do have a little cultural mix, but that has always been a part of the west.  We have partners in Exodus Aerospace of Latino and Indian backgrounds now.  Chugwater has two bars…but one is a SODA bar!

seriously, this office needs some CLUTTER!

But if we want to build a really special place, THIS ARTICLE LOOKS AHEAD.  That gives you a better look at the community and future potential.  Are we ready to boldly go?

DEPARTURE:  I rarely post here:  Fasten your seat belts!

This site is for topics that float between heaven and space, between faith and science.  But it is connected to my space posts, so welcome to Spirit Space.  I have illustrated possible solutions for space launch, identifying large satellite markets as a good business case.  There is already some service for that sector, including more reusable potential.  That is all good business, but I am confused about the spirit of current launch vehicle development.  A lot is aiming at tiny satellite markets that may be cut off as orbital debris accumulates.  But some are departing from earth orbits to destinations that have virtually NO real market or customers whatever..aside from some suicidal loonies.  Why don’t they just go pet the bison in Yellowstone?

STAR TREK, STAR STRUCK, SEEING STARS.  Are we ready to boldly go?

Yes, ventures are already building anti-matter and tachyon propulsion for inter-stellar missions now.  And the grand obsession of chemical rocket firms is MARS.  I proposed an expensive vehicle development to serve real satellite markets.  With no funding we are “small fish” but at least we offer real bait to real big fish customers.  The big launch ventures are all better businessmen than me, so where are their buyers?  Is that a dumb question?

RODDENBERRY FUNNY  Gene pulled a lot of jokes on us.  He painted a world with no money, where poker is the entertainment of choice.  Are we planning on space with no profits?  The Ferengi will clean us out!  How could Bashir challenge Quark to a dabo game with no latinum?  The Roddenberry universe is about soap opera with poverty, and you know that dates do not happen without latinum!  But apparently we believe that Mars travelers will bring lots of money to die in space…??  I think some Virgin Galactic customers cancelled after a little crash and burn here on earth.  This is why I published on this blog; it takes a LOT of faith to believe in all this.  Or will the government pick up the tab like Star Fleet?

PLAN TOO GRAND, STAR TOO FAR  compare to Apollo or Shuttle?

We published an article about the Rockwell StarRaker as a bold initiative towards both space and energy solutions.  It was too much too soon, but still a brave vision and a manufactured market.  Let’s look at the record.

Because of threats of oil and energy our government was offered a space based power source.  This need faded as oil prices dropped and we returned to our gas guzzling cars and fossil fuels.  No one mentioned greenhouse gasses back then.  Still, Rockwell was creative in manufacturing a future market for their services, even if neither came to be.

ENGINEER WITHOUT FEAR  bold designs; still no SSTO

They were so far out front that we still have no single stage to orbit options.  But they did spend the money to do serious analysis and marketing on this.  Unfortunately much of the technology is still out of reach.  And the fear factors of energy and the cold war have faded.

Looking at the NASA budget drop after the moon missions we see little money for such a big project.  The shuttle too was not to fully deliver reusable economies either.  This was a hard sell era.

MOON DAZE: MINE IS BIGGER…no more cold war posturing (?)

The thrust behind the moon program budget was fear.  If we were not more powerful than Russia, we feared being seen as inferior to godless communism.  God knows we should have been afraid of godless capitalism!

SPACE SHUFFLE:  was delivered at 1% TO 0.5% of fed budget but lessons were learned:

The Boeing X-37 still operates missions for the Air Force using space plane technologies from the shuttle program today.  And they were able to run on a budget, if not as often as hoped.

NA$A CO$T$: a moving target

The Apollo program cost $109 billion in 2010 money. Since 11 Apollo missions were flown, that amounts to $9.9 billion per flight.  This was done at a NASA budget over 4% of the national budget, now down to only 0.5% for NASA.

“Early during development of the space shuttle, NASA had estimated that the program would cost $43 billion in 2011 dollars in development/non-recurring costs, and $54M in 2011 dollars per flight.

The total cost of the actual 30-year service life of the shuttle program through 2011, adjusted for inflation, was $196 billion.  The average cost to launch a Space Shuttle as of 2011 was about $450 million per mission.”  At least a partially reusable system did seem to save some on launch costs.

NEXT MIS-STEP PORK BARREL: SLS  moves backwards to the future Apollo

Now we are building a new space vehicle after 6 years of buying Russian rides and engines.  The Space Launch System salvages shuttle parts to build an Apollo era retro-rocket.

GUDNUZBADNUZ: escape capsule, booster behind, throw away

Well, the Shuttle lacked a good escape system, so the SLS at least offers a capsule escape system.  And returning to in-line staging moves the crew or payload ahead of the potential booster problems.  Booster troubles doomed two shuttle missions, so this is good.  But we are re-using the solid boosters that caused one failure, and tossing all the reusable features that saved some on launch costs.  But disposable is not an attractive option.  At least the capsule may (?) be reusable.

WHYNOT? 4.3% of budget then, but only 0.5% available now

NASA seriously thinks we can return to Apollo era when we have only 1/4 of the NASA budget of that era.  NASA’s budget peaked in 1964-66, when it consumed roughly 4% of federal spending instead of 0.5% as today.

PROMISES, PROMISES Senate Launch System dictated to NASA by congress pork-barrel

Estimated Project cost: US $7 billion to $35 billion

Cost per launch  US $500 million

“NASA Still Has No Idea What a SLS Launch Will Cost… the SLS program has not positioned itself well to provide accurate assessments of core stage progress – including forecasting impending schedule delays, cost overruns, and anticipated costs at completion – because at the time of our review it did not anticipate having the baseline to support full reporting on the core stage contract until summer 2016 – some 4.5 years after NASA awarded the contract.”

LOOKEE SEE: gaze at YOUR crystal ball

Seeing what the Apollo cost, and what we offer to spend now, where is the money for SLS?  Even the shuttle made a bump!  Do YOU see another Apollo program in here?

OK, a few moon trips were expensive.  Now let’s shoot for the Moon and Mars too!  If we could not justify more moon ventures without a big bad communist threat, how are we going to justify missions to Mars on a 1/2% of the budget allowance?  We no longer have the big fear factor UNLESSWe must build another earth because we are DETERMINED to ruin THIS ONE!  Hey, our corrupt congress has us right on course!

FRIDAY 13 TO MARS  Take a trip to mars huh?

I demonstrated a simulated trip to Mars right here in Wyoming.  I had not one, but two flat tires.  I had other trouble potentials but help was only an hour away.  I detached the car from the disabled trailer and drove an hour to Wheatland and back for repairs.  With the tires fixed, I was able to resume my adventure.  How many tire dealers, gas stations, or friendly helpers are there on the way to Mars?

APOLLO 13 TO MARS  You REALLY don’t want to go there!

Remember how much fun it was on Apollo 13?  I want you to scale this up and consider the rescue mission between here and Mars.  I can provide you with a scale representation.

This model is linear, so add in the circular route, as we cannot take a straight line in orbital mechanics.  The distances here do not include racing around the sun trying to catch up with the orbiting planet.  So multiply the distances A LOT!  Select the planet symbol at the top for earth; a circle with a cross in it.  then you can see the moon in scale too.  Remember, that was the Apollo 13 misadventure.  Now set out for Mars, circle with an arrow, like a male symbol.  you can subtract the orbit of Earth from Mars for a linear distance.  Or perhaps square the Mars radius and multiply by 2 x pi for a circumference of your orbit.  Are you ready to have mechanical troubles now?

LOST IN SPACE  unmanned missions miss more than hit.  Are you really ready to boldly go?

“With so many successful missions to Mars, it’s easy to forget that getting there has never been easy. In fact, more missions have failed than not: 28 flops compared to 19 successes.”

Check out your odds:

Moving even farther away from a solid business case, we witness a new space race.  Government and private rocket ventures are racing to Mars.  Has anyone identified who will pay for the winner of this race?  Or is this just another chance to posture and show off your big male ego?  Looks like the communists are not the problem that our capitalists are!  To be fair, rich guys contribute, as Howard Hughes gave a lot to early aviation, but he had a few buggy issues too.

Yeah, yours is bigger but…mine is really symbolic!

If the StarRaker was missing the business case, where are our present space programs taking us?

Wherever our leadership fantasies lead, however expensive and dangerous that may be.  We will spend huge sums of money and energy on likely fatal missions to Mars.  One might ask where our leaders are really taking us.  Is a Hollywood fantasy really worth this cost?  Of course our leaders are a reflection of our voters.  Our willingness to be led to our death is not unlike that of lemmings.  Just because one has votes or lots of money does not validate their wisdom.  Can we see any evidence of this yet?

As Christopher Columbus took three ship,s a fleet of rockets could provide salvage and rescue if one was lost.  You could send all three rockets to Mars if you are willing to multiply the cost by the number of vehicles.  But then how can we even afford ONE trip to Mars considering the cost of the moon missions?  It kind of hammers that 1/2% of the budget idea doesn’t it?  WHY NOT?  READ THIS!

Now NASA thinks we need a leader to protect earth from alien invaders.  And they can also protect the other planets from us too, which is a far better idea.  What planet wants an invasion of earth-wrecking Republicans anyway?  Should we protect the other planets from the lawyers who are already claiming their mineral rights?

Our planet may be at risk, not of alien invasions, but of native invasions.  We are the only threat to this planet.  If you truly believe that we are not changing the climate, then we should not be afraid to keep taking measurements to confirm that.  That sounds like a good space investment to me.

MARS STARS AND BARS.  You can’t get there from here.

Our leadership seems to have substance abuse problems, even if they aren’t from Colorado.  Our best napkin designs are coming from some dark dank barroom.  Show me a business plan that saves the earth from our leaders and we should sign up.  When aliens arrive and say “Take me to your leader”, show them the way.  If those true guardians of the galaxy have their way, we may be rid of our real enemies.

INVESTORS BEWARE.  Are you spending on a one way ticket?

If you leader is planning bigger dreams than the Rockwell Star-Raker on a depression era shoestring budget consider doing due diligence.  Some investments will never come back from Mars, including our tax dollars.

I seem to be falling in line for a job that gets people killed.  They killed the prophets in the bible, and I am uncomfortable seeing bad things coming to pass.  Warnings are unpopular if they don’t agree with our own opinions.  Some of my friends on Facebook have probably un-followed my posts by now!

I usually post bible studies on a dedicated “Wordtrail WordPress site.  I am finishing up the wisdom of Proverbs, which the author, Solomon, promptly ignored.  Later I will tour Ecclesiastes, where he sees himself and repents of those sins.  By then he is a bitter old man and Israel is doomed for following his bad examples.  It’s all depressing because I see the exact same pattern in today’s news.  The kingdom is divided and our kings are just as evil as theirs were then.

Today I am aware that I have unforgiveness lurking in me because voters are so gullible.  Those who sell their soul to the wealthy for one (left or right) doctrine do not obey good political science or their bible.  And those who can’t figure out some common ground will never advance their political cause.  I was both physically and spiritually weary today, and missed church.  But church conviction came to me as my pastor spotted me walking my dog, and said they missed me.

This blog is reserved for conversations that illuminate both faith and science.  I believe in both, and I disagree with both.  The bible points out “Science falsely so-called” (1 Timothy 6:19-21), but it also points out false religion (Matthew 7:15-20).  There still remains true religion and true science.  Science publishes regular updates as they discover new data, making the old obsolete.  Both sides boldly proclaim their righteousness until God and new data give us an update.  Jesus illustrated the failure of religion to recognize the value of mercy.  Merciless politicians are the revival of the religion of failure.  The only road to righteousness is repentance; a lesson David was able to use to overcome his own gross sin.

I quit the Republican party when I saw Donald Trump coming.  I was right, they nominated him.  I quit the Democratic party when they nominated Hillary Clinton, another crook.  Sure enough they stole our votes for Sanders.  Yes, Bernie Sanders was the most Christian of the 2016 candidates, but still not good enough.

I can read what the old bible prophets have written, and their predictions were nasty for a lot of people.  We don’t need new prophets, because those predictions are still working in our nation today.  I expect many people to reject common sense per those predictions.  I can also expect many people who claim to be Christian will fall away.  I feel bad about that, but again the bible said it would happen.  I find it hard to watch, and I feel compelled to warn people.  However, I cannot change what is coming, we will lose some friends along the way.

But even with all the warnings, we watch masses of people calling evil good.  Our President defies all the wisdom of Proverbs on a daily basis.  He even speaks against the constitution, our system of checks and balances, and freedom of speech.  It hurts to read what friends say when they are so far wrong about this man.  But to disagree with him is to invite persecution.  According to CBS news, the president is reported to have launched a witch hunt for the party who posted photos comparing the crowds of his inauguration to Obama’s.  He can’t handle freedom of speech.  So much for the constitution, another piece of paper that cannot negate or outlive the bible.

But men of science also suffer persecution when they speak out against error.  Engineers understood the dangers of cold weather on the booster rockets of the space shuttle.  When facing a cold weather launch, they tried to warn NASA to no avail.  their rewards were persecution that ended their career.  No good deed goes un-punished?

Excerpts from “Remembering Roger Boisjoly: He Tried To Stop Shuttle Challenger Launch” on the NPR website:

Roger Boisjoly was a booster rocket engineer at NASA contractor Morton Thiokol in Utah in January, 1986, when he and four colleagues became embroiled in the fatal decision to launch the Space Shuttle Challenger.  “We all knew what the implication was without actually coming out and saying it,” a tearful Boisjoly told Zwerdling in 1986. “We all knew if the seals failed the shuttle would blow up.”

Armed with the data that described that possibility, Boisjoly and his colleagues argued persistently and vigorously for hours. At first, Thiokol managers agreed with them and formally recommended a launch delay. But NASA officials on a conference call challenged that recommendation.  They told us that the NASA pressure caused Thiokol managers to “put their management hats on,” as one source told us. They overruled Boisjoly and the other engineers and told NASA to go ahead and launch.

The explosion of Challenger and the deaths of its crew, including Teacher-in Space Christa McAuliffe, traumatized the nation and left Boisjoly disabled by severe headaches, steeped in depression and unable to sleep.  Boisjoly testified before the Challenger Commission and filed unsuccessful lawsuits against Thiokol and NASA. He continued to suffer and was ostracized by some of his colleagues.

“He always stood by his work,” his wife Roberta recalls, her voice breaking. “He lived an honorable and ethical life. And he was at peace when he died.”

There is the key:  this life is only the entrance exam for the life that matters.  If you speak truth, your conscience is clear, and you are ready for the next life.  Sometimes the answer that we should hear is “I don’t know”.  I was not here when the worlds were formed and I have not had revelation from God.  I do not have all the facts until I do meet God.  There are scientists who have been able to accept a call of God in their lives without rejecting either faith or science.  An open minded discussion can be stimulating and rewarding, but those are very rare.  For my Christian friends this is a challenge because their bible commands open minded faith.

” For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win the more; and to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might win Jews; to those who are under the law, as under the law, that I might win those who are under the law; to those who are without law, as without law (not being without law toward God, but under law toward Christ), that I might win those who are without law; to the weak I became as weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.  Now this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I may be partaker of it with you.”

1 Corinthians 9:19-23

How can we give hope to people if we drive them away from us?  By making laws that force our views on everyone we become known as legalistic, the mark of the Old Testament.  How can you be like others if cannot even be in the same room with them?  Those who carry signs and scream insults are demonstrating a behavior known as railing.

Railing defined:

  • To “rail” against anyone is to use insolent or reproachful language toward one.
  • One who scoffs, insults, censures, or reproaches with opprobrious language.

Well, let’s give equal time here; we have seen these things from both the left and the right.

Are both candidates of 2016 able to fit these definitions?

  1. A proud look
  2. lying tongue
  3. hands that shed innocent blood,
  4. A heart that deviseth wicked imaginations
  5. feet that be swift in running to mischief
  6. A false witness that speaketh lies (see #2)
  7. he (she) that soweth discord among brethren.

What did you expect; something different from what God warned Israel about when they demanded that he give them a king?  There is no such thing as trickle-down economics, it all upwards flow.  Any plumber can tell you what flows downhill!  If you try to avoid them by voting, you are just funding the other crooks, and there is no lesser evil; it is all bad.

Let me paraphrase your hope for your king (president) from 1 Samuel 8:10-18

This is what the king who will reign over you will claim as his rights:

  1. He will take your sons and make them serve with his chariots and horses
  2. He will take your sons and make them plow his ground and reap his harvest
  3. He will take your sons and make them make weapons of war
  4. He will take your daughters to be perfumers and cooks and bakers
  5. He will take the best of your fields and vineyards and olive groves
  6. He will take a tenth of your grain and of your vintage
  7. He will take Your male and female servants and the best of your cattle
  8. He will take your donkeys for his own use
  9. He will take a tenth of your flocks
  10. He will take you as his slaves.
  11. He will make you will cry out for relief from the king
  12. But the Lord will not answer you in that day.”

HE WILL TAKE.  And what does Jesus tell you to do for your king?  “So give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.”  Matthew 22:21  Money is for abortions, crucifixion, armies, war, and all manners of evil.  Your soul is your treasure, and that belongs to God.

We don’t need to seek a king, but rather the Kingdom…of God.  Our knowledge and power leads to war and poverty, there is no “Star Trek” utopia.  We need doctors when there is cutting to be done, but we need God when our science runs out of answers.  We cannot buy safety in insurance, armies or police forces.  But there is a security beyond the veil of death.

Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?  For after all these things do the Gentiles seek: for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.  But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.  Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.  Matthew 6:31-34

Well, the Republicans have won the election.  Many Republicans are not happy with the candidate but hope that he will be better for America than the Democratic candidate.  Christians hope that President Trump will manifest the mind of Christ after so much prayer.  If he is a new Christian, he probably needs some growth and guidance.  But will he listen to advice or to God?  If his past problem behaviors manifest there may be some rough spots ahead of us.

Actually, Trump’s enemies won’t wait for much of an excuse.  He has enemies in both parties and we can expect politics to continue as usual.  Since the Republicans control Congress they can’t fight Trump too hard if they want their agenda to move ahead.  So the Republican party will go along with the program while it serves them.  A problem remains in the area of finance corruption, which both parties have been buried in.  Trump has railed against corruption but he is recruiting lobbyists for his team.  Everyone will be watching to see what is really going to get done.

Meanwhile, the Democrats have had the slap in the face that both parties needed.  They will recognize the popular revulsion with the Clinton criminal legacy.  All the young Sanders supporters certainly do.  Bernie is already releasing a book about the continuing revolution.  His campaign against corruption has been consistent for decades.  If the Democrats tap that energy and clean house they may gain momentum over the next four years.  One should remember that with Clinton removed, a lot of independent voters would rather have the new Democrats than Trump.  The Democrats outnumber Republicans and could be empowered by independent votes.

One should remember that both parties have valid points in some areas and some serious error in others.  There is a chance that a brave new future may allow opponents to actually listen to each other and identify areas they can agree to work together on.  If Republicans and Democrats can’t do that then the bipartisan anti-corruption movement is already doing it.  Mayday 1, Represent US and others have passed anti-corruption bills in several states in this election.  If the Republicans are overconfident in this narrow victory the corruption issue will either grow worse or be forgotten.  But the opposition may find it to be a solid campaign tool.

So now Republican hopes are hanging on a perfect Donald Trump performance.  If there are failures it will give ammunition to the opposition.  If he does everything the Republicans want it will still leave a lot of enemies after such a close election.  This would be a good time to learn how to listen, to really consider different views, and to pray for unity.  But the partisan divide may belong to diehard hard-heads on both sides.  If Republicans want to see a real victory they will have to make greater changes than this narrow victory motivates.  It may be better to be defeated and get motivated to do what the nation needs instead of what dark money donors want.

Heavy is the head that wears the crown…especially in the information age.  Dark money and dark secrets have a way of surfacing in October.  Corporations and foreign governments have used donations to influence our government in greater degrees lately.  When they do harm to our citizens a lot of noise is made, but little gets changed.  The Democrats got hammered over these kinds of revelations this year.  The Republicans may be next if they are associated with their usual shady corporate partners.  Other traditional Republican ideals may need to be reexamined.  Watch for evidence of possible errors or opportunities to do more good.

If Democrats learned lessons, and Republicans are not overconfident we may see some bipartisan progress.  Otherwise, this narrow Republican victory may become a one term presidency.  Donald Trump has some reluctant support and some fierce opposition in nearly equal numbers.  His ability to win over the opposition by diplomacy is not his strong point.  He and his party need to change in order to change America.

So now I should believe our “leaders” and all the other lies they have been teaching me for 70 years? And we should salute and send our kids into this crap to win some oil wells. REPUBLICANS AND DEMOCRATS ALL SUCK!

On August 2, 1964, three North Vietnamese Navy torpedo boats attacked the USS Maddox in the Gulf of Tonkin. The destroyer fought back, killing and injuring several North Vietnamese. Fortunately, no Americans were hurt. Two days later, it happened again. Except that it never really did. In 2005, the National Security Agency’s declassified files showed that on August 2, the North Vietnamese were patrolling their own waters when the Maddox fired three warning shots at them to stay away – and that was it. There was no skirmish, no damage, no injuries, and no dead. As for August 4, the two sides never even meet.

So many revelations of American shame, towards native Americans, the Vietnamese in My Lai, Abu Garib, and now this election.

Shout all the evil secrets of this nation from the housetops so we must hide our faces and seek your graces. Open all the works of the Illuminati and the Bohemian Grove for all the world to read. Reveal the greed of every oil, coal, and chemical company to the victims of our wars and pollution. Revive the pain of shame that should have always been attached to every broken treaty with native Americans. Show the sins of our lust even when it is hidden among our most religious phonies. Strip away the spiritual pride of false religion and false prophets.

Make us ashamed of our nation and naked to need the shelter of your Kingdom Lord. Make us citizens who desire only your kingdom and your King, Yeshua Ha Meschia, Jesus. I pray this in the name of Jesus that your sheep will remain in your grace even as many are lost and replaced by Israel. We welcome The children of Abraham to the Kingdom of God as you fulfill your promises to them.
