I seem to be falling in line for a job that gets people killed.  They killed the prophets in the bible, and I am uncomfortable seeing bad things coming to pass.  Warnings are unpopular if they don’t agree with our own opinions.  Some of my friends on Facebook have probably un-followed my posts by now!

I usually post bible studies on a dedicated “Wordtrail WordPress site.  I am finishing up the wisdom of Proverbs, which the author, Solomon, promptly ignored.  Later I will tour Ecclesiastes, where he sees himself and repents of those sins.  By then he is a bitter old man and Israel is doomed for following his bad examples.  It’s all depressing because I see the exact same pattern in today’s news.  The kingdom is divided and our kings are just as evil as theirs were then.

Today I am aware that I have unforgiveness lurking in me because voters are so gullible.  Those who sell their soul to the wealthy for one (left or right) doctrine do not obey good political science or their bible.  And those who can’t figure out some common ground will never advance their political cause.  I was both physically and spiritually weary today, and missed church.  But church conviction came to me as my pastor spotted me walking my dog, and said they missed me.

This blog is reserved for conversations that illuminate both faith and science.  I believe in both, and I disagree with both.  The bible points out “Science falsely so-called” (1 Timothy 6:19-21), but it also points out false religion (Matthew 7:15-20).  There still remains true religion and true science.  Science publishes regular updates as they discover new data, making the old obsolete.  Both sides boldly proclaim their righteousness until God and new data give us an update.  Jesus illustrated the failure of religion to recognize the value of mercy.  Merciless politicians are the revival of the religion of failure.  The only road to righteousness is repentance; a lesson David was able to use to overcome his own gross sin.

I quit the Republican party when I saw Donald Trump coming.  I was right, they nominated him.  I quit the Democratic party when they nominated Hillary Clinton, another crook.  Sure enough they stole our votes for Sanders.  Yes, Bernie Sanders was the most Christian of the 2016 candidates, but still not good enough.

I can read what the old bible prophets have written, and their predictions were nasty for a lot of people.  We don’t need new prophets, because those predictions are still working in our nation today.  I expect many people to reject common sense per those predictions.  I can also expect many people who claim to be Christian will fall away.  I feel bad about that, but again the bible said it would happen.  I find it hard to watch, and I feel compelled to warn people.  However, I cannot change what is coming, we will lose some friends along the way.

But even with all the warnings, we watch masses of people calling evil good.  Our President defies all the wisdom of Proverbs on a daily basis.  He even speaks against the constitution, our system of checks and balances, and freedom of speech.  It hurts to read what friends say when they are so far wrong about this man.  But to disagree with him is to invite persecution.  According to CBS news, the president is reported to have launched a witch hunt for the party who posted photos comparing the crowds of his inauguration to Obama’s.  He can’t handle freedom of speech.  So much for the constitution, another piece of paper that cannot negate or outlive the bible.

But men of science also suffer persecution when they speak out against error.  Engineers understood the dangers of cold weather on the booster rockets of the space shuttle.  When facing a cold weather launch, they tried to warn NASA to no avail.  their rewards were persecution that ended their career.  No good deed goes un-punished?

Excerpts from “Remembering Roger Boisjoly: He Tried To Stop Shuttle Challenger Launch” on the NPR website:

Roger Boisjoly was a booster rocket engineer at NASA contractor Morton Thiokol in Utah in January, 1986, when he and four colleagues became embroiled in the fatal decision to launch the Space Shuttle Challenger.  “We all knew what the implication was without actually coming out and saying it,” a tearful Boisjoly told Zwerdling in 1986. “We all knew if the seals failed the shuttle would blow up.”

Armed with the data that described that possibility, Boisjoly and his colleagues argued persistently and vigorously for hours. At first, Thiokol managers agreed with them and formally recommended a launch delay. But NASA officials on a conference call challenged that recommendation.  They told us that the NASA pressure caused Thiokol managers to “put their management hats on,” as one source told us. They overruled Boisjoly and the other engineers and told NASA to go ahead and launch.

The explosion of Challenger and the deaths of its crew, including Teacher-in Space Christa McAuliffe, traumatized the nation and left Boisjoly disabled by severe headaches, steeped in depression and unable to sleep.  Boisjoly testified before the Challenger Commission and filed unsuccessful lawsuits against Thiokol and NASA. He continued to suffer and was ostracized by some of his colleagues.

“He always stood by his work,” his wife Roberta recalls, her voice breaking. “He lived an honorable and ethical life. And he was at peace when he died.”

There is the key:  this life is only the entrance exam for the life that matters.  If you speak truth, your conscience is clear, and you are ready for the next life.  Sometimes the answer that we should hear is “I don’t know”.  I was not here when the worlds were formed and I have not had revelation from God.  I do not have all the facts until I do meet God.  There are scientists who have been able to accept a call of God in their lives without rejecting either faith or science.  An open minded discussion can be stimulating and rewarding, but those are very rare.  For my Christian friends this is a challenge because their bible commands open minded faith.

” For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win the more; and to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might win Jews; to those who are under the law, as under the law, that I might win those who are under the law; to those who are without law, as without law (not being without law toward God, but under law toward Christ), that I might win those who are without law; to the weak I became as weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.  Now this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I may be partaker of it with you.”

1 Corinthians 9:19-23

How can we give hope to people if we drive them away from us?  By making laws that force our views on everyone we become known as legalistic, the mark of the Old Testament.  How can you be like others if cannot even be in the same room with them?  Those who carry signs and scream insults are demonstrating a behavior known as railing.

Railing defined:

  • To “rail” against anyone is to use insolent or reproachful language toward one.
  • One who scoffs, insults, censures, or reproaches with opprobrious language.

Well, let’s give equal time here; we have seen these things from both the left and the right.

Are both candidates of 2016 able to fit these definitions?

  1. A proud look
  2. lying tongue
  3. hands that shed innocent blood,
  4. A heart that deviseth wicked imaginations
  5. feet that be swift in running to mischief
  6. A false witness that speaketh lies (see #2)
  7. he (she) that soweth discord among brethren.

What did you expect; something different from what God warned Israel about when they demanded that he give them a king?  There is no such thing as trickle-down economics, it all upwards flow.  Any plumber can tell you what flows downhill!  If you try to avoid them by voting, you are just funding the other crooks, and there is no lesser evil; it is all bad.

Let me paraphrase your hope for your king (president) from 1 Samuel 8:10-18

This is what the king who will reign over you will claim as his rights:

  1. He will take your sons and make them serve with his chariots and horses
  2. He will take your sons and make them plow his ground and reap his harvest
  3. He will take your sons and make them make weapons of war
  4. He will take your daughters to be perfumers and cooks and bakers
  5. He will take the best of your fields and vineyards and olive groves
  6. He will take a tenth of your grain and of your vintage
  7. He will take Your male and female servants and the best of your cattle
  8. He will take your donkeys for his own use
  9. He will take a tenth of your flocks
  10. He will take you as his slaves.
  11. He will make you will cry out for relief from the king
  12. But the Lord will not answer you in that day.”

HE WILL TAKE.  And what does Jesus tell you to do for your king?  “So give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.”  Matthew 22:21  Money is for abortions, crucifixion, armies, war, and all manners of evil.  Your soul is your treasure, and that belongs to God.

We don’t need to seek a king, but rather the Kingdom…of God.  Our knowledge and power leads to war and poverty, there is no “Star Trek” utopia.  We need doctors when there is cutting to be done, but we need God when our science runs out of answers.  We cannot buy safety in insurance, armies or police forces.  But there is a security beyond the veil of death.

Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?  For after all these things do the Gentiles seek: for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.  But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.  Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.  Matthew 6:31-34
